As a rule, we're not devourers of tabloids. But there are some things that are worth breaking your own rules for - and, it turns out, an engagement ring presented by George Clooney is right up there on that list.
People got the exclusive first look at the gem with which George Clooney proposed to his hot-shot human rights barrister fiancée Amal Alamuddin, and it is every bit as amazing as we'd expected.
The design, which Clooney is reported to have hand-picked, is a seven carat-plus emerald-cut diamond (ethically mined, of course), featuring two tapered baguettes set in platinum.
While it's quite the rock, there's also something distinctly unflashy about it - something of a theme in the couple's as-yet brief but intense relationship.
There's as yet no official confirmation of an engagement but frankly, what more could we want?
