Charles Worthington has launched a Wedding Atelier service for brides to decide their wedding day look with the help of some of the top names in the business.

Make-up artist Ariane Poole is a household name thanks to her numerous TV makeover shows as well as running a make-up school. Along with Mathew Soobroy, Worthington’s right hand man and hairdresser to Mischa Barton, Tamsin Egerton and Bobbi Brown, they make up the dream team who set to work creating your look over fizz and fancy cakes.

After cooing over pictures of your dress (it never gets old), discussing your iconic bridal look, the season in which it takes place and nosing through your make-up bag, Ariane and Mathew begin the experiment. Make-up is usually more instinctive than hair as most of us want what we already do, just better. Hair takes a couple of trials within your hour slot but Mathew is quick and open to suggestions. He mentioned that he’s seen girls who are on their fifth or sixth trial, so nervous are they of saying they don’t like what the hairdresser has done. At £65 a pop, this is madness.

Here’s some tips to get what you want from your hairdresser and not waste time or money:

If you’ve been happily visiting your hairdresser for years, why plump for someone new for your wedding? Your current hairdresser knows what you like and just because he’s always done loose waves on you, doesn’t mean he can’t do an up-do.

People often panic at the thought of wedding hair but it should be a natural extension of your normal style.

If you’re choosing a new hairdresser, go in to the salon and book in person asking to have a quick chat with them first. You’ll hear how they work and instinctively know if they’re more Ivanka than Alexa. Then walk away if it’s not for you.

Take pictures of celebrities, but only those with hair similar to yours. Miracles can’t happen.

Understand and convey what you like and don’t like about these pictures.

Say from the outset that you’re not good at criticism but want to feel this is a collaboration. Then man up and say when you’re not sure.

The Charles Worthington Wedding Atelier service is £150 for an hour consultation with Ariane and Mathew, who can then be booked for your big day. 7 Percy Street, London W1T 1DH 020 7299 8860 www.charlesworthington.com
