I’ve done it. I’ve chosen the dress. In the end, after months of deliberation, there was nothing to it.

Knowing the lightning bolt wasn’t going to strike, I took a deep breath and uttered the immortal words, “I’ll take it!” before working through two credit cards to find one that could cope with the deposit.

Between the Carolina Herrera and the Phillipa Lepley, I went for the Lepley because – for 8% more cost – I get a couture gown. And I reasoned it was probably the only one I’ll ever own. I’d have been delighted with either dress but nitpicking – which is what it boils down to – the Lepley has a greater sense of occasion to the flirtier Herrera (actually, it does look quite "occasional" below, but on me it was more cute...!). And that was that.

I’m suddenly giddy with excitement about eventually wearing it and going for monthly fittings until it’s done. It feels like a huge weight has been lifted and that I’ve done absolutely the right thing.

Obviously I’m not going to show you THE dress. But here’s the stunning Carolina Herrera Winterhalter that got away and which I thoroughly recommend to you. You can visit her at Browns Bride, just ask for Sam.
