Phebe married Matt on 22 September. He picked this date because his birthday is the 25 September – he said that he would quickly know if he'd forgotten their wedding anniversary when he didn't get any presents. A slightly unconventional way to pick a date was followed by an even less conventional wedding venue; a walk down the aisle to the Ramones for the bride and a walk out as a married couple to The White Stripes. It was a day full of little nods to convention, amongst many unique surprises, when an English boy married a Californian girl in Brooklyn.
My wedding dress was a sample inherited from a fashion closet long ago and Matt wore a custom-made suit.
