Katie married Tim on 5 September 2013 at a small legal ceremony at Hackney Townhall, followed by an outdoor humanist ceremony near Bridport in Dorset a couple of days later. They first met in 2011, and were engaged nine months later. In Katie's words: 'When you know, you know.' For the bigger outdoor ceremony, having a wedding outside was important to the couple, and for the décor, the bride played around with ideas involving fabric and nature. A highlight of the day was when friends serenaded the couple with an acoustic version of Wonderwall as the wedding began to wind down.

Annie's Vintage in Islington is just over the road from my favourite knitting shop and I actually went in there by chance with an old friend from university.
I was really worried about dress shopping and normally hate shopping with other people, but when I found the dress, it seemed like a real 'meant to be' moment.
The flower crown and veil was created by Emma Caderni - made from from several original 1920s veils, with a few pearls sewn on by me.
A Suit That Fits provided Tim with a fully bespoke tailored suit. It took a number of consultations to ensure that the suit fitted perfectly, and the cost was well worth it (it was more expensive than my dress!)
The Old Rectory was our home for the whole weekend. As we were just looking for somewhere we could host a party (rather than get legally married there), it made the venue selection process so much easier.
I knew this would be the place as soon as I saw the pictures. When we visited, we actually cycled from Axminster (not something I would recommend) and arrived all hot and sweaty at this gorgeous venue, where the garden was just lit with sunlight. Another ‘meant to be’ moment.
Our venue was complemented by tipis from World Inspired Tents. They were so cosy, and beautiful without having to add too much decoration.
We started our day with a yoga session in the tipi which got everyone in the right frame of mind. The open fire was a great added extra, and really kept everyone together as the evening drew in and got chilly.
My bridesmaids were my sister-in-law and another really good friend, then my niece as a flower girl.
The dresses were from Henkaa - it took me ages to choose the colour though, as they have such a wide range.
We didn’t have a first dance, but we had a Ceilidh (Gaelic dancing) co-ordinated by Matt Tarling.
We also had a band: The Stour Valley Stompers. We wanted to have live music all day and we did. Both bands were brilliant. The Stompers learnt our entry music especially well (we had Always Look on the Bright Side of Life) which we used as part of our ceremony. We fluffed that one up by not singing all the verses but I don’t think anyone minded.
