Rebecca married Russell on Easter Sunday, April 14 2014, at Southend Farm, West Sussex. After seven years as a couple and around 15 years as friends, Russell proposed in Florence, Rebecca's favourite place, on June 2013 - the night before her 30th birthday. They picked Easter Sunday, as it was also the date of the couple's anniversary. The wedding scene was perfect for spring: rustic, rural and simple, with a Scandinavian design influence. The day was non-traditional and laid-back, with a small group of friends and family enjoying Easter treats and celebrating to a soundtrack of folk and indie music.
My hairdresser was Lauren Brinklow, and I had the feather head-dress custom made by a seller on Etsy. It was the perfect alternative to a traditional veil.

I bought my wedding dress just three weeks before the wedding, from ALICE by Temperley. Luckily enough, I had seen the 2014 collection in advance when I worked with the Temperley team as a freelancer.
My shoes were the Coco Flamingo white pumps by Sophia Webster from Browns Focus. They were beautiful, but very quickly covered in mud after posing for photos outside on the farm.

Russell's suit was made by Gresham Blake in Brighton - a local hero for anyone who has lived in the area. He wore it with a Paul Smith tie from Selfridges.

Russell's stepmother arranged the flowers with her neighbour, artist Jane Emanuel. We wanted fresh whites, greys and blues to match the spring theme, and we displayed them in wild clusters, potted in small vases that I painted myself.

We wanted to have our ceremony and reception all in one place. Southend Farm was perfectly set up to host both in separate spaces, with an elegant covered terrace joining the two.
We were lucky enough to have lots of beautiful open landscapes which were ideal for photos, and some of us spent the next day at nearby West Witterings beach.

We didn't add much to the beautiful venue, which already featured huge wooden beams, landscaped gardens and quirky farmyard-inspired detailing, like cow-print wallpaper and decorative milk churns.

I walked up the aisle to Toothpaste Kisses by The Maccabees. It's not traditional but it's a song we've always loved and associated with our relationship for years. Plus, there's a wolf-whistle in the song which caused a few smirks in the crowd and lightened the mood for me slightly!

We had fires roaring and cosy blankets for a bad weather spell, but it was equally beautiful when the sun came out and we could all enjoy the gardens.

Luckily so many of our friends already know each other, and have grown up together; so we had a small group of guests which felt very intimate.

The huge barn provided the space for our reception, which meant we had masses of space for kids to run around, and for dancing in the evening.

Our delicious food was supplied by local restaurant group Field & Fork, who have a few venues in nearby Chichester.
We had traditional canapés and prosecco, followed by spicy crab cakes and slow-roasted beef. Additional snacks came in the form of chocolate easter eggs!

We danced to Baby I'm Yours by Arctic Monkeys. They're a band we've seen a lot together over the years, and it's a B-Side so we thought that it was something not many people would choose.
