Joo married Adam on 19 July 2014 at Nonsuch Mansion in Surrey - a stone’s throw away from where Joo grew up. They met on the trading floor of an Investment Bank in 2010 where Adam says Joo ‘captivated’ him from the moment they met. He proposed in September 2013, on Joo’s birthday in a private cinema at the Alpina Gstaad, Switzerland. They relocated to New York in December 2013 and planned the UK wedding from their Manhattan apartment. Guests were in black-tie; the décor was a mix of contemporary and traditional, with personal touches along the way. The aim was to bring a touch of glamour in an intimate setting, highlighting the couple’s love and story through the décor and details.

I found my dream dress, the ‘Sunrose’ at Suzanne Neville, Knightsbridge. It was one of the first dresses I tried on, but couldn’t commit to it so early on.
After numerous fittings, I couldn’t get the dress out of my head and I knew it was the one.
I picked up discount Jimmy Choos from Bicester Village. They had a good bridal collection all at 40% discount.
Pam Wrigley, the winner of the 2013 National Wedding Industry Award, did my hair and makeup. She created a curled, chignon-style, incorporating braids and a subtle hair-vine.
She went for a golden smoky eye with natural lips for the makeup. Pam recommended the Camelia lipstick from Cosmetics à La Carte which has now become my go-to lippy.
Floral Stylist, Michelle Rust, brought our ideas to life beautifully and all within a reasonable budget.
We wanted natural ivory colours accented by splashes of blue. For my bouquet, she created a delicate teardrop bouquet with ivory roses, blue nigella, ice-blue delphinium and ivory freesias.
My bridesmaids, Zeena, Jessica and Tan wore dresses by Dessy in the same 'Sailor Blue' colour but in different styles. I wanted them to look unified but also individual, so encouraged them to wear their own accessories.
My 'Man of Honour', Thewey wore a tux with a blue bow tie and a blue flower in his button-hole to distinguish him from the Groomsmen.
Nonsuch Mansion was built in 1743, set within 300 acres of parkland. Throughout the building, you can find inscriptions of the Mansion’s motto, ‘Hora e Sempre’ - ‘Now and Forever’. We thought this was the perfect motto to celebrate our marriage.
We were given exclusive use of the entire Mansion, with the ceremony and reception taking place under one roof. It was impressive and grand, but also intimate.
I went for a long tiered veil with subtle glitter detail from Suzanne Neville. I wanted it to glimmer as I walked down the aisle. Added bonus, the ladies at Suzanne Neville threw this in for free.
I love the Korean composer and pianist, Yiruma. The bridal party walked down the aisle to a harpist playing his piece, River Flows In You.
My Maid of Honour and silkscreen designer, Zeena, personally designed and produced our entire wedding stationary.
From the invites, to the table plans and favours, they were hand-drawn and all hand-printed using a silkscreen.
We went for a three-tiered cake with customised lace detail on a blue background from Daisy Chain Cake Company.
The talented Melanie matched the lace detail on my dress and also recreated the two birds from our invites. Our flavours were lemon sponge with white chocolate ganache, and lemon curd, coconut sponge with coconut buttercream, and strawberry conserve and banana sponge with salted caramel buttercream.
With its floor-to-ceiling windows, and big Georgian staterooms, Nonsuch Mansion’s interior was already very impressive.
We didn’t need to do very much, but wanted to add personal touches. EffectEvents added uplighters to the exterior and interior for the evening. It was the first time they’d received a request for fairy-light curtains draped across all three windows in the stateroom, but it really worked.
