My Mother and Godmother collected jam jars, and hand-sprayed them all gold, with a top coat of glitter. The table numbers were from Etsy, which I sprayed the same way. The flowers were from a local florist called Bramble and Wild . I liked the idea of having only whites and greens with a vintage feeling. I also wanted fragrance, so we incorporated fresh mint and flowers with a natural scent.
The fact that the ballroom at Orchardleigh House was so stunning made it easy to decorate, and the gold chairs and white table cloths tied in perfectly with out colour scheme. At each place setting we had a brown menu card, with single stem flower laid on top and tied with a brown luggage tag with the person's name on.
My shoes were Grenson, designed by me using their bespoke service . I already knew the colour scheme so then it was just a case of deciding which parts of the shoe I wanted in each colour. My shoes were made in the UK and the suits in LA, so I didn't actually get to try on my full outfit until about 10 days before the wedding!
Tom opted to have his best school friend as his Best Man, and I chose my three best girlfriends as my GROOMSmaids! The girls wore dresses by Zoe Jordan . I loved this particular dress from her AW12 collection , and she remade it from the archives for me. The silhouette flattered all three girls. My ice-white hair colour was done by Bradley at Bleach.
The house made a stunning backdrop for some of our couples photos. We both felt quite uncomfortable doing them at the time, but they are really special to look back on. Our photographer Amanda Spicer lived locally and was great to work with.
This was us walking into the front of the house after our drinks reception on the back lawns. Although quite traditional, we decided to do a receiving line on the way into the wedding breakfast as we wanted to make sure we spoke to and hugged everyone at least once! I love how our suits look from behind.
In addition to a cake, we also decided to have a cake of cheese for our guests to enjoy. Rather than pay to have one come already assembled, My Dad ordered four different types and sizes of local cheese from a shop from Paxton & Whitfield in Bath . My Mum and I found some hessian and ribbon which I pinned around the cheeses, and then decorated with grapes.
