The photographer loved by the fashion pack
Photographer Thomas Zanon-Larcher has collaborate with Yohji Yamamoto, Alexander McQueen, Dries van Noten, Martin Margiela and Haider Ackerman, amongst others, so he knows all about fantasy and spectacle.
The Italian born photographer’s first solo exhibition at The Wapping Project Bankside opens this week.
It gathers images of women living supposedly ordinary lives which leave you wanting to know more: Who is she? Where is she going? What's her story?
Yes, it's dramatic but it's realised with understated style. Go see.

ELLE HQ: NOT SURE WHAT TO THINK ABOUT SOME BAD TV
We are… confused. On the one hand, things we like definitely, definitely include: Tom Daley, swimming pools, anything that reminds us of the Olympic glory days of 2012.
And, we’ll admit it, cheesy TV shows where celebrities do ridiculous/impressive things for no discernable reason also have a little space in our hearts.
But Splash!? SPLASH!? This ITV1 show, which debuted last Saturday, leaves us not sure what to think.
Jo Brand as a judge? Her qualification is that she likes swimming. Well, we like biscuits but we’re not kicking Michel Roux Jr off Masterchef, are we? Helen Lederer basically rolling from the side of the pool into the shallow end? She is a comedian. And it was (sort of) funny. But it’s not really why we watch diving.
(Tom Daley is why we watch diving, in case you’re not keeping up. But I suppose they thought that 90 minutes of that wouldn’t make for interesting TV. How wrong they were.)
It was, obviously, awful. And yet… over 6 million people were watching at one point. And we’ve got a horrible feeling we might be among them again this Saturday night.
Is this just post-Christmas madness? Is it because we’re not drinking and have lost all sense of judgement? Is it actually quite good? Or really, really bad? Or so bad it’s good?
We honestly don’t know. Do you? Tell us @ELLEUK.
Thank you.

THE NEW GIRL
She’s talented, beautiful and she’s music’s next big thing.
On her autobiographical song writing: ‘There's nothing left in the diary now. I've closed my book on that chapter of my life. But there's always stuff happening to me. I'll sure there will be another album's worth of material along soon!’
On the music scene now: ‘I think music's in a great place now. I feel like it's getting back to the real. Away from that X Factor stuff. I want to surround myself with real musicians.’
On her success: ‘People say 'overnight star' or 'overnight sensation' to me, but really some of these songs are two years old. I've been making this album for the last two years.’

QUEEN OF PRINTS
Emma Mawston is head of design for Liberty Art Fabrics.
Here’s a sneak peek inside her colourful world...
I grew up in an artistic family
My mum and dad have always loved art and my sister and I were taken to exhibitions from a young age.
I remember being little, getting in from school and constantly drawing patterns as I watched television.
I was always a pattern maker rather than a still life artist.
My personal life inspires my work
The music collection for a/w 2011 was inspired by my husband Mark who is a rock music photographer.
Florence Welch was involved and chose a couple of designs from the archive.
When she came in she was wearing a Liberty print dress and she was lovely.
I know I shouldn’t be but I’m always surprised at how nice all our collaborators are.
