What does your job at ELLE involve?
As accessories editor I style both the models who appear in ELLE’s accessories section and also select the merchandise to appear on those pages.
How did you get started?
Lots and lots of work experience. I was then lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time, but you need to do everything you can to put yourself in that situation.
What are your career highlights?
Going to Japan to assist fashion director Anne-Marie Curtis on a main fashion shoot. Working with Karl Lagerfeld on the issue of ELLE that he guest edited, which included travelling in one of his fleet of Hummers in Paris. Surreal!
Best thing about working at ELLE?
That we are fortunate enough to be able to have a great amount of creative input and an amazing creative director who are always open to new ideas.
What advice would you give to any aspiring stylists?
Compile an address book that is full of essential contacts and take this with you wherever you go. This was a very useful piece of advice given to me when I first started working at ELLE.
Describe your own personal style...
My style is quite androgynous. That’s not to say I wouldn’t wear a feminine dress, but I would wear it in a fairly ‘tough’ way with biker boots or a masculine tailored jacket.
