12 Years A Slave' Lupita Nyong'o has confirmed that she has acquired the film rights to Chimamanda's best-selling novel, .

Having previously admitted to being a big fan of Chimamanda's work, the Oscar-winning actress optioned for the rights and won.

Reportedly, Lupita will produce the film with Brad Pitt's production company, Plan B - with the actress will also starring in the adaptation.

Following this news, Americanah will be the second of Chimamanda's novels to hit the big screens.

The author's first novel, Half of A Yellow Sun, was released last year and starred Chiwetel Ejiofor (the BAFTA-winning 12 Years A Slave's lead).
