A Level Year 1 Film
A Level Year 1 Music Technology
A Level Year 1 PsychologyI am currently at Camden School for Girls, but I am hoping to have a change in 6th form by attending a 6th form college. I came for the open day at City & Islington and was very impressed with the speech the Principal made- he made it sound like a very exciting place to study. I loved hearing about the psychology, film studies and Music Technology A level courses and I feel I could do very well in these, as they are all subjects I am really interested in.When I applied for secondary school, I was one of only 6 people ( out of about 500) to win a music place at Camden School for Girls, and I have really enjoyed studying music there. I write, arrange and produce my own songs, and have recorded some. I have performed many times at school, and also at open mic sessions and at a street festival. I sometimes play the piano and guitar to accompany my colleagues' performances. I also write poetry and was chosen to represent the school in a spoken word contest Slambassadors, when I was 12.I also wrote a short children's book when I was 9, but it hasn't been published yet.I was also asked to play the part of a troubled teenage girl in a Youtube film series aimed at teaching teenagers how to deal with different life situations, this experience has made me very interested in the whole process of making films.I have been suffering with severe anxiety over the past two years, which has resulted in poor school attendance, but I am seeing a CBT counsellor and making a big effort to manage it. I work very hard to make up the work I miss and my teachers say I am very capable of doing well in my GCSEs if I can overcome the anxiety. I have been diagnosed with ADD too. My predicted grades, at the moment, aren't very high, because of my anxiety, but we haven't done our mocks yet and I hope to improve them then.I am half Cuban and love spending time with my family in Cuba, but I am aware that they have none of the opportunities that we have in the UK, which makes me more keen to do well and make the most of my life. I would love to have a career in music and/or film, but because of my anxiety I am very interested in psychology and would love to study this to give me another career option, and to understand better how our minds work.I have done work experience at my old nursery school and primary school and at ELLE magazine. My anxiety has been a big struggle for me, so I really hope I won't be penalised because of my poor attendance, as it is something I can't help. I really enjoy learning and I am determined to overcome the anxiety and do well.I feel that City & Islington could be a wonderful new start for me and I really hope I can earn a place there as I have alot to contribute.PERSONAL STATEMENTApplication reference: APP000761,APP000761,APP000761

Meghan Markle Will Have This In Her Bridal Bouquet
The tradition dates back to Queen Victoria's wedding to Prince Albert....
With the 2018 golden globe nominations now out, we can't help but dream up hypothetical scenarios of how our favourite A-list stars will celebrate their big wins. Will we see a second kiss between Ryan Reynolds and Andrew Garfield? Another awkward clap courtesy of Nicole Kidman? Or will Chrissy Teigen finally be able to stay awake to see who won Best Actress? However, while we're excited to hear that Stranger Things' David Harbour (aka Chief Hopper) has been nominated for a Glober in the *deep breathe* Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television category, we're not so sure about one of his co-stars reaction to the news.Yesterday, the actor took to Instagram to thank fans of the hit Netflix show, with the caption: 'I tip my hat to you @goldenglobes for the nomination. My Christmas present came early this year. You got me feeling all the holiday feels.'Cute, right?Receiving over 6,000 comments on the post from fans congratulating the star, we couldn't help but notice Harbour's co-star Joe Kerry's (otherwise known as 'Beautiful-Long-Haired-Steve-Harrington) suggestion if the actor won the coveted award.Under the tagline @uncle_jezzy (we couldn't love this more), Kerry wrote: 'If you win David the Duffer's get to shave my head.'Not today, Satan. This is not happening. While Kerry's comment might have been made in jest, we'll be damned if we're about to let Kerry shave off his iconic bouffant.Yes, bouffant, ladies and gents.Just loo at that Walnut Whip-inspired do. It's shiny, fluffy yet stiff and everything you want from a man's hair.Heck, it's everything you want in a woman's hair. And, in episode six of the series, the star even shared his advice about how to recreate his much-talked about hair do to new BFF Dustin Henderson (Gaten Matarazzo).'It's Fabergé Organics,' Harrington explains. 'Use the shampoo and conditioner, and when your hair's damp — it's not wet, okay? When it's damp, you do four puffs of the Farrah Fawcett spray.'Now, I don't know about you but I haven't the foggiest idea what Fabergé Organics (we've since learned it's a hair product from the '80s) but do I want to buy a lifetime supply of it? You bet I do.Look, if Harbour does with the Golden Globe (which we hope he does), jump up and down, take your top off and run around a football field, weep for all we care, Joe.But, whatever you do - Do. Not. Touch. The. Hair.Capeesh?Stranger Things | ELLE UK
