Oscars Beauty: hair and make-up ups and downs

The hair at the 82nd Annual Academy Awards last night seemed to be inspired by two of the Best Picture Nominees, Up and Up in the Air. Why? Well, updos were the hairstyle du jour on the red carpet last night.

Everyone from Penelope Cruz and Rachel McAdams to Maggie Gyllenhaal and Sarah Jessica Parker opted for a bun. However it wasnt a sea of identikit updos, each star made the look their own.

Frederic Fekkai's Renato Campora created Kristen Stewarts messy bun, which worked perfectly with her personality. He told Bella Sugar.com that he wanted to create a "modern, edgy look with a young vibe." It was also a slightly more classic look then her mullet would have been. Good work Renato.

Maggie Gyllenhaals hair was styled for the event by Mark Townsend. The look was slightly mussed up and had a vintage feel thanks to the specially designed barrette by Jennifer Behr.

Actress and singer, Jennifer Lopez also went for a tousled updo thanks to stylist Robert Vetica. The hairstyle looks like a bun, but is instead two pinned ponytails. Vetica created texture using Moroccanoils Hydrating styling Cream and a curling iron.
