By Leanne Ludlow | Posted: Thu 08 Jan 2009

Want a fashion fix but your bank manager has planted an oversized statement lock on your wallet?

You can still get fashion high on a low budget with the latest designer exhibits.

Iconic milliner and BFA Outstanding Achievement 2008 award winner Stephen

Jones, is celebrating almost 30 years in the business by curating an 'Anthology of Hats', a romp through the history of hats, plus many of his own and contempories creations from fellow designers such as Noel Stewart. Jones, is the chapeau maker extra-ordinaire - there's barely a designer or star he has not designed for - Brit star Giles Deacon is one of his latest collaborators for whom he designed the Pac Man helmets for Giles s/s09 collection. The 'Anthology of Hats', at the V & A runs from 24th February - 31 May 2009.

Meanwhile, Hussein Chalayan, the Turkish Cypriot born designer, is feted at the Design Museum in a comprehensive look at his collection over 15 years of working in Britain. Reknowned for his innovative use of material, future-thinking design and expert pattern cutting, the exhibition will feature dresses made fromSwarovski crystals, LED lights, and moving lasers. The show runs from 22 Jan to 17 May 2009.

Also arriving at the Design Museum later in the year is an exhibition of paper dresses - the ultimate in throw-away in fashion. View the collection of original paper dresses from the 1960s, when paper fashion was suddenly a la mode, and a history of paper in fashion from kimonos to more industrial wear.

Find out more about all these exhibits and visit V& A website http://www.vam.ac.uk and Design Museum websites http://www.designmuseum.org.
