For the last two years one of the off-schedule must-dos of NY Fashion Week has been a visit to the Gap pop-up store on 5th Avenue.
The store sees visitors queueing around the block for limited edition Gap collaborations and unique pieces (there was the collaboration with Paris boutique Colette and as well as Gap and Mulberry's grey marl Roxy bags), and now the concept is going global. To mark the 40th anniversary of Gap's first denim and discs store (opened in 1969) pop- up stores will open in Paris, London and L.A as well as in New York.
This week saw the launch of the L.A store - which opens to the public on Thursday on Robertson Boulevard. A host of A-list Gap fans attended a private view of the new 1969 denim collection, transformed by Gap's creative director Patrick Robinson (pictured here with Halle Berry) to include several new washes and fits.
The London pop-up will open on 10 September in Kingly Court, just off of Regent Street. Expect limited edition pieces by Pierre Hardy (who designs Gap's Limited Edition shoes and boots already), as well as specially created music by Pharrell Williams and an exhibition by blogger Garance Dore (the French version of The Satorialist.)
