Jimmy Choo to design accessories collection for H&M

By Melissa Dick | Posted: Wed 17 Jun 2009

From November 2009, you’ll no longer need to extend your overdraft to walk in Carrie Bradshaw’s shoes and bag yourself a pair of red carpet worthy heels or chic animal-skin sandals.

Just as the recession threatens to put a stop to your SATC style designer shoe addiction, high street store H&M announce today that they’ll be teaming up with shoe designer to the stars, Jimmy Choo, on an autumn accessories collection for women and men.

Past designer collaborations with Matthew Williamson, Viktor & Rolf and Karl Lagerfeld have proved a massive hit for H&M, and their very first collection with an accessories designer is set to be sold in over 200 of their stores worldwide from November 14 this year. There are also plans afoot to extend the collection to clothing that will compliment the shoes.

Tamara Mellon, founder and president of Jimmy Choo said that she would be designing a collection to appeal to ‘fashion savvy, street smart women,’ that ‘would bring to H&M a sophisticated, fashion forward, accessible and glamorous collection – the perfect party pieces to buy now and then wear out that night.”

Expect signature Jimmy Choo shoes to be at the heart of the collection for H&M - think leopard skin, zebra skin and strappy leather, skyscraper high gladiator sandals - and there will also be bags and a whole range of other accessories to look forward to.
