Lindsay Lohan for Ungaro – The Verdict

By By Avril Mair and Laurelle Gilbert | Posted: Mon 05 Oct 2009

Lindsay Lohan debuted her first collection as artistic director of Emanuel Ungaro this weekend in Paris.

Things did not get off to a good start for Lindsay Lohan in Paris. The paparazzi crush, chaotic door scene, booing photographers and the fact that the show started 45 minutes late (for a lunchtime show in Paris this is highly unusual) all worked against the budding designer before her first look even hit the runway.

And then came the clothes. Sadly for CEO of Ungaro, Mounir Moufarrige, who employed Lohan to inject some youthful, Hollywood edge in to the label, Lindsay’s vision disappointed.

It was signature Lindsay, everything looked like something she would want to wear – but this was not necessarily a good thing for a Paris Fashion House of Ungaro’s stature.

There were clashing hues of hot pink and orange, eighties inspired party dresses (complete with fur stoles) and hearts on almost everything including bandeau bra tops and short print skirts.

Estrella Archs (head designer) and Lohan only had one month to put this collection together, but the fashion pack couldn’t help but feel they should have done better – or else waited until next season.

Lindsay emerged hand in hand with Archs to take her bow at the end of the show wearing a white dress from the collection. She looked more than a bit nervous, could she have been crying?

That might have been her 'overwhelmed' acting face, but the audience response to her was at best lukewarm. If she expected rapturous applause she sure didn’t get it.
