Stella McCartney's Christmas light switch-on

By Emma Sells | Posted: Tue 24 Nov 2009

The Mighty Boosh boys dressed in drag, a one-man-band dressed as Father Christmas and a smattering of fashion-forward celebrities - it could only be Stella McCartney's annual Christmas party.

Last night the fashion crowd headed to Stella's Bruton Street store to kick off the festive season in style. The Brit designer, dressed in her own lace-panelled leggings (they're top of our Chritsmas list) played host to an eclectic array of stars - Jools Holland, Pam Hogg, Peter Blake, Paul Whitehouse, Louise and Jamie Redknapp and Twiggy - and furnished the rest of us with a happy combination of champagne, biscuits shaped like Chirstmas trees and sleighs and foil-covered chocolate Santas.

Last year the lights were switched on by Peter Kay's formidable X-Factor star, Geraldine. This year it was the turn of Noel Fielding and Julian Barrett of the Mighty Boosh, dressed oh-so-stylishly in drag as a pair of old ladies. They were accompanied by their band, and quite literally stopped traffic with their performance before switching on the lights. Brilliant.

Check out Stella's Christmas lights for yourself at 30 Bruton Street, London.
