Already dreading the high-street Christmas shopping crush? A new website could help.
NearLondon is launching a website showcasing a virtual West End that will display everything that is in store on Oxford Street, Regent Street, Leicester Square and Bond Street.
The site created by the Near West End Company will be so life-like that virtual streets will have buses running down them, news stands with the day's headlines and even the real weather. It's the first time an entire city has been recreated online like this.
Visitors will be able to visit their favourite stores, see what's for sale, and for how much before they set foot out of their door.
It's hoped the project will increase the number of people coming to London to do their Christmas shopping and will help dedicated shoppers get exactly what they want.
Although it has already been met with some criticism, 'Will they also have Hare Krishnas, GOLF SALE signs and overpriced fast food outlets?' asked one doubter, M&S, Liberty and American Apparel as well as John Lewis have signed up to participate in what they think will be a great scheme.
'NearLondon will enable our customers here in the UK and internationally to take a virtual tour of our offer before they visit' said a spokes person for Marks & Spencer.
The site launches in November.
