Naomi Campbell donates Birkin bag for White Ribbon Appeal

By Laurelle Gilbert | Posted: Mon 20 Jul 2009

Naomi Campbell is the next philanthropic celebrity to donate one of her own Hermes Birkin bags to charity auction.

One lot at the next Hermes annual vintage sale will be a green alligator skin Birkin bag belonging to Naomi Campbell, who is donating the bag to raise funds for ELLE's favourite charity, The White Ribbon Alliance.

The cost of a Birkin starts at around £3500 pounds but can come in at as much as six times that if crafted from alligator or any other exotic skin. And, even if you can afford one it could take up to three-years on a waiting list before you actually get your hands of one of these coveted handbags.

Naomi is one of many high-profile celebrities who works to raise money and awareness for the White Ribbon Alliance alongside Carla Bruni, Sarah Brown and ELLE's own Editor-in-Chief Lorraine Candy.

Jane Birkin has previously donated one of her collection of Birkin bags and Princess Stephanie of Monaco has also donated one of her mother Grace Kelly's bags to the Hermes auction - which takes place on November 10th.
