Hold ups are winter's hot new accessory- really!

If you 're already channelling autumn/winter 09's grunge trend then look to the stars for inspiration on how to add edge to the look this week.

We've spotted grunge poster girls Pixie Geldof, Lily Allen and Taylor Momsen in black stockings and our new favourite tights de jour, 'mock hold up's' (see Pixie Geldof's House of Holland pair above and you'll see what we mean).

But rather than looking overtly sexy, the girls have got sheer black stockings just right for autumn/winter 09 by teaming them with oversize shirts, tough boots or chunky shoes, leather biker jackets and fierce chain accessories.There is nothing naughty-school-girl or coquettish about these stockings, they are all about rebellious, bag-girl style.

So take note, this is the way to wear stockings now.
