A fix for the show-date clash?

In October, the head of Italy’s Camera Nazionale della Moda threatened to move Milan Fashion Week forward to 19 September, bringing it into direct conflict with New York and London fashion weeks. Back then, the Council of Fashion Designers of America and the British Fashion Council said they would stand behind the ‘second Thursday agreement’ and keep their show dates rather than move to accommodate Milan.

So of course, it looks like they’re moving the dates to accommodate Milan.

WWD cited sources who said the CFDA reached out to Italy’s Mario Boselli with an offer of a compromise: New York and London will move their shows up by a week, but only if Milan agrees that international shows should start on the second Thursday of February and September from 2013 onward.

The CFDA board is understood to have unanimously approved the resolution at a recent meeting. Boselli is expected to discuss the proposal with fellow fashion bosses at an end-of-month meeting.

The BFC has remained silent on the deal. We reached out for comment this morning and have yet to receive an official response. Previously, the industry body said that moving London’s dates up was unattractive due to venue shortages surrounding the Olympics. We’ll keep you posted with any updates.
