Gucci and Suno have embarked on new partnerships with optical groups Safilo and Warby Parker.

Suno, the label whose exuberant African-print garments are beloved by the likes of Kate Bosworth, will release limited-edition frames in three of its most popular prints. The brand's Kenyan-made textiles support local cooperatives, but the conscientious side of these sunnies comes courtesy of Warby Parker. It's an online optical group that donates a pair of frames to someone in the developing world for every pair purchased on its site.

‘Warby Parker and Suno have shared values. We believe that there is a way to make beautiful things while giving something back to the world,’ Osterweis told the Telegraph.

Gucci and Safilo, meanwhile, will release six new frame styles produced using environmentally sustainable materials in August.

Instead of the traditional acetates used in most sunglass frames, four of the new styles feature a form of acetate that contains a higher proportion of naturally occurring materials. The other two styles, called the Gucci Eyeweb collection, use a new material derived from castor-oil seeds.
