The boys at Meadham Kirchoff decided to deviate from the formula yesterday, and the effect was fantastic. The lights went down, the Psycho theme tune was cranked up high and all 25 models hit the catwalk together, lined up briefly, and stalked off again.

It was more like being flash mobbed by a very well dressed cult than a fashion show. Granted, it doesnt take much to confuse an audience that hasnt slept for five days, but the whole thing was over so quickly that it wasnt until Ben and Edward appeared that the enthusiastic clapping began.

The show was so fast-paced that it was hard to take everything in, but we loved what we saw. The sinsister feel of last season continued, with macabre shrines to the designers set up in the middle of the runway and models that looked like Catholic school girls gone very, very bad.

The looks were heavily layered: there were black pinafores over ruffled white shirts, demure white cotton dresses and peasant blouses with ethnic embroidery and frayed edges, little red woolen jackets and box pleated smocks and hits of sheer chiffon and lace peeking out. The addition of chunky gold crucifix necklaces and Raybans only added to the effect. It was brilliant, and if the audience was left feeling slightly shell shocked, it was in the greatest possible way.
