Essential Viewing: The Great British Bake Off, 8pm

Tamal broke female hearts across the country yesterday by announcing that he’s gay, but we are still excited to watch him swirl chocolate at the Semi-Finals tonight (except we’ll obviously be longing for the days of blissful ignorance when we could lust over him and his framboise cream horns).

But, how many mathematical tools will Ian use to perfect his tart? How many times will Nadiya grimace while baking absolutely delicious things? And of course we’re dying to see what cute vintage dress Flora will wear next. Tune in tonight to find out.

Catch-Up: The Assent of Woman

The Ascent of Woman is an incredible new series on BBC, bringing to light the roles of women in history that have been forgotten – until now. Host Dr. Amanda Foreman follows their stories, from the suffragettes who fought for our right to vote to the South African women in power who have stood their ground. This series will leave you feeling empowered for days. It’s also the perfect thing to watch before going to see our November cover girl Carey Mulligan in her new film Sufragette, out next week.

If you still haven’t gotten around to reading Harper Lee’s latest offering Go Set a Watchman, check out this classic on Netflix now before you do. Starring a stoic Gregory Peck in the role that would define his career, it follows Atticus Finch crusade against injustice in 1930s Alabama.
