Today, three Team ELLE members took part in the #IceBucketChallenge. The recent social media phenomenon sees people being doused with ice-cold water to raise awareness (and money) for a number of charities. To date, David Beckham, Jennifer Lopez and Tom Hiddleston, among many others, have all taken part.
Editorial Business Manager Debbie Morgan, Junior Sub-Editor Claire Sibbick and Associate Health & Beauty Editor Amy Lawrenson agreed to be soaked with ice-cold water for a good cause. Well, four good causes to be precise. ELLE did it to raise awareness and money for ALS Association, Macmillan Cancer Support, Motor Neurone Disease Association and Water Aid (since we were using three buckets of water and a couple of bags of ice).
We have donated £50 to each of the charities and we encourage you to support them too – either by doing your own #IceBucketChallenge to raise awareness, or by donating.
Oh, and what was it like? Cold, wet and one of the team members now has water stuck in her ear – but hey, it’s for a good cause. Plus, we get to nominate someone else to do it next.
