If you’ve read our interview in the December 2014 issue with the inspiring Emma Watson, it will come as no surprise that the actor and philanthropist has been announced as the Feminist Celebrity of 2014 by forwomen.org and cosmopolitan.com.

Other women on the list include Laverne Cox and Tina Fey (both of whom featured on our ELLE Inspire 100), Beyoncé and Meryl Streep.

‘We celebrate all feminists every day, but we’re giving a hat tip to celebrities who are helping to promote women’s equality,’ says forwomen.org's president and CEO, Teresa Younger. She also said that the women on the list have ‘either embraced the term “feminist”, spoken out for women’s equal rights or battled against sexist oppression.’

Frankly, we’re not surprised that Emma Watson tops the list, what with her HeForShe speech at the UN, and her work in Uruguay as a UN Women Goodwill Ambassador. We can’t wait to see what she’ll do next in 2015.
