Self-confessed social media addicts, this one's for us.

Instagram has rolled out a brand new look today, featuring a monochrome colour scheme and an updated icon design set.

Those who update to the latest version will notice a refreshed user interface, allowing people's visually captivating photos and videos to shine that little bit more.

There's also been a slight tweak to the font and icons found within the app, so that the experience 'feels more native' while you scroll through your personal feed and Explore.

As for the icon set found across the family of apps – Boomerang, Layout and Hyperlapse – say hello to a simplified shape (representing a 'more versatile camera') and a snazzy gradient rainbow.

A small number of people were given the chance to preview the black and white look at the end of last month, which the popular photo-sharing app had said they were testing at the time.

Changes to the current algorithm are yet to be confirmed, although that's probably a good thing since the Internet totally lost its cool when rumours surfaced in March.

Says Instagram: "We wanted to create something that reflects how vibrant and diverse storytelling on Instagram has become. We designed this look to reflect this community's full range of expression – past, present and future.'
