Glastonbury organisers have announced Lionel Richie will play the Sunday teatime slot at next year’s festival.

The All Night Long singer is the first act to be announced with Emily Eavis, the festival’s co-organiser, and daughter of Glastonbury founder Michael saying, ‘We are over the moon.We felt very lucky to get the call from a true Motown legend asking to play next year.

He's got so many amazing songs, to see him perform here on the farm is just going to be wonderful.’

Richie said of his Glastonbury debut, ‘[I’m] really excited…as it's one of the most iconic festivals in the world.

It has a phenomenal history and the alumni of artists who have previously played is incredible so I'm honoured to be joining that club. I can now say 'Yes, I'm playing Glastonbury'.’

In honour of the announcement here's five of team ELLE’s favourite Lionel Richie videos to get you in the mood (and to lift your spirits on this grey Monday, Hello it's time to dance at your desk)…
