Mhairi Black had made an impression before she uttered her first word as an MP, merely by being the youngest person to be elected to parliament.

This week, she gave a masterclass in confidence when delivering her debut speech to the House of Commons.

Black called out chancellor George Osborne for cutting housing benefits for young people saying, ‘We are now in the ridiculous situation whereby, because I am an MP, not only am I the youngest, but I am also the only 20-year-old in the whole of the UK who the chancellor is prepared to help with housing.’

Spirited, funny and searingly smart, watch the rest of her speech and feel inspired about the future of politics.
