My Idol, The dancing avatar app that is taking over your social feed is much funnier than the trial-and-error time it takes to navigate the application, which until its UK release, is all in Chinese. You can make a pretty educated guess - we all have basic grasp of the universal language of App - but if you'd like to get it right first time, here is our English translation.

1. CHOOSE AND CONFIRM PHOTO

Make it front on, no accessories, preferably no hair obscuring your face. Align with guides as below

2. SET GENDER

GREEN is male. RED is female. You can do this once the avatar is built by clicking the red or green button above its head. I am red, see?

Tweak 'time machine' to see your face proportions change. Presumably with age.

In 'Make Up' you can adjust skin colour.

3. GET DRESSED

'Girl Suits' is like instant outfit. I see Miley Cyrus put the 'Blaze' sweatshirt on her avatar, so I did too. (Click on icon, let it download. When the background goes white you can choose to put it on.)

4. CHOOSE YOUR HAIR. Self explanatory

5. PICK YOUR (PROPER) OUTFIT

I find my personal uniform on here: button up shirt and skinny jeans. Please excuse the semi-nudity.

Click top right 'done' icon when you're finished.

6. AVATAR IS BUILT.

Don't attempt to add a caption. It will be in Chinese.

You'll use STAGE (the dancing movies are made here) and GIF/EMOJI (the catwalk movie is here) the most

7. MAKE A MOVIE

There are a lot of options, but catwalk feels right for this purpose. You can screenshot at any stage by pressing the camera icon.

8. DUB or SHARE

We're not able to dub in the UK yet. But as we have been made aware (a LOT), we can share.

9. SAVE TO CAMERA ROLL

Don't worry about the other buttons...

11. LAUGH TILL YOU CRY. THEN SHARE ON INSTAGRAM
