Today in what could've/should've been news, Paul McCartney was once courted for a Friends guest spot. The show's casting director, Leslie Litt, told the Huffington Post she wanted him to play Ross Geller's father-in-law, Stephen Waltham, in the episodes where Ross married Emily during the two-part season four finale.

But alas, Paul declined. 'I went through his manager and gave him all the details,' Litt recounted. 'One day, someone in the office brought me a faxed letter written to me by Paul himself! He thanked me for my interest and said how flattered he was, but it was a very busy time for him.' Sigh.

Instead, Tom Conti took the role and killed it. But just imagine Sir Paul in the scene below:
