Now four tiring weeks into the autumn/winter 2016 shows, Hedi Slimane decided to throw a cheeky curveball at Paris Fashion Week last night, just to keep everyone on their toes.

There were questions as to whether the Saint Laurent show would go ahead - rumours have been rife that Creative Director Slimane was on his way out - but it did, though for a very limited audience only.

100 guests were invited to the Hôtel de Sénecterre, a 17th-century building on the Rue de l’Université that Slimane has spent three years rennovating to become the home of the newly reborn Saint Laurent Couture wing.

There they witnessed a show that was pure 80s - ruffles, big shoulders, puff-ball hems, sheer black tights, it was all there.

Unlike Slimane's previous shows, there was no rock-heavy soundtrack, just a lone voice calling out the number of each look as used to happen in the Yves Saint Laurent Haute Couture shows of old. This wasn't Haute Couture though, it was simply ready-to-wear, repackaged with an 80s vibe.
