You’re turning 30, so you have a house party, right? Dinner, drinks and a bit of music? And it’s no different if you’re a Prince… Only the house is Clarence House, dinner is chef-prepared beef Wellington, drinks are specially delivered Highgrove champagne – and the music? A live performance by Ellie Goulding, natch.

Rolling up to Prince Charles’ residence Clarence House in a top-of-the-range Audi (isn’t that how you arrived at your birthday party?), Prince Harry is said to have been greeted by 30 close friends including Pippa Middleton, ex-girlfriend Cressida Bonas and, of course, dad-to-be Prince William. Sadly, Kate Middleton – who had been planning the Harry’s original party, which was put back from his actual birthday on Monday until last night – wasn’t in attendance, as she is suffering from severe ante natal sickness.

After a three-course black-tie dinner featuring Harry’s favourite dessert, Eton mess (what else?), Ellie Goulding was said to have planned an acoustic set of hits, as well as taking requests from the guest of honour (cover version of Royals by Lorde, maybe?). And then it was reportedly on to a ‘ski-themed nightclub’ created for the occasion.

Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall, on holiday in Scotland, sent cases of Highgrove champers and claret for the night. We wonder if they’ll still think that was such a good idea when they get home… We’re guessing you should probably get clearing up that after snow machine, eh, Harry.
