As Abby Haglage reported in the November issue of ELLE, Revenge Porn - the distribution of private sexual images without the subject’s consent, online and via text – is a frightening, and growing, phenomenon that has the potential to affect everyone. And the ripple effect can last well into a victim’s future.

So we applaud new laws yesterday proposed by Justice Secretary Chris Grayling. Those convicted of the offence will now face a maximum of two years in prison. “We want those who fall victim to this type of disgusting behaviour to know that we are on their side and will do everything we can to bring offenders to justice. That is why we will change the law and make it absolutely clear to those who act in this way that they could face prison,” Grayling said.

Victims should able to report offences to the police, who will be given greater powers to investigate and prosecute.

We hope this will go some way to deter those who deliberately devastate women’s lives.
