Accomplished actress, model, and girl gang member Cara Delevingne may have a seemingly endless stream of gigs, but even she gets rejected sometimes. So when it happened and it hurt—she lost a role in a scrapped Beach Boys film—Cara did what any defeated job hunter would do: She gave her career advisor, eight-time Grammy-winning singer Rihanna, a call.

'I was heartbroken,' she told WSJ Magazine. 'With modeling, if someone else gets a job, I'm like, Yeah, of course, there are so many better models. But with acting, you grow such an attachment to each role.' RiRi had some sage advice for her friend: '[She told me] everything happens for a reason. You are going to call me back in a week or two and say, "You are right."'

Cara might have come to terms with the injustice of rejection in the modeling world—'It's horrible living in a world where I'll get a call from someone saying, "So-and-so says you were partying a lot and you were looking this way and you need to lose weight." It makes me so angry. If you don't want to hire me, don't hire me,' she said of the industry—but for the up-and-coming actress hopeful, losing a primo role was understandably a blow.

But, lo and behold, Rihanna got her 'I told you so' moment: Cara snagged the lead in John Green's Paper Towns shortly thereafter. That RiRi: career counselor, babysitter, and psychic.
