It’s no secret that we love championing women in a variety of industries. So we were thrilled to hear that Robyn is going to work with Sweden’s Royal Institute of Technology to launch a festival called Tekla, dedicated to promoting women in the tech world.

The event will be held on 18 April in Stockholm, and is strictly for girls aged 11-18. Tekla will feature a headline performance by Robyn, and will also include motivational speakers and workshops on everything from electronic music to robotics.

‘Tekla is a festival for girls,’ said Robyn. ‘They get to sample different areas of future technology in what I believe will be a fun and imaginative environment.’

The idea of the festival is to get them interested in science, technology, engineering and maths – according to the Royal Institute, just 24% of its new students are women.

We hope that similar festivals will pop up in the UK soon.
