Imagine a TV show that took the best bits of Mean Girls and Heathers with an added hit of Gossip Girl mystery… Sounds good, right? If you’re nodding in agreement then prepare yourself for new horror comedy show Scream Queens.

The show is brought to us by Glee co-creator Ryan Murphy - and has got everyone a talking. Impressive, considering it's not even on the TV until the autumn.

While you wait, here are the five things you need to know about it right now:

1. It's an epic line up

Lea Michele is moving over from Glee, and Emma Roberts, Ariana Grande, Abigail Breslin (of Little Miss Sunshine), and the guy who features in many a teen dream, Nick Jonas (topless, no less), also star. Plus, the awesome Jamie Lee Curtis is on board too.

2. The plot is darker than you might expect from a teen show

‘There is this kind of thriller aspect to the show,’ says Emma in the series trailer video. ‘I think there is so much that will keep everyone coming back. I know for me when I read the first episode, I literally was like what!?’

The story follows Kappa House Sorority at Wallace University, and what happens when a serial killer in a red mask is on the loose. It's hide-behind-your-sofa-cushion kind of stuff.

3. The characters are our type of people

‘These girls are kickass,’ series co-creator Ryan Murphy said of the characters in the show. 'They're not waiting for a boy to come in and rescue them. They're the ones doing the rescuing.'

4. Katy Perry is already a big fan

She tweeted: ‘Zomg. I want to watch every episode of the new Scream Queens right now#notanadd’.
