With the explosion of street style (and the twitter-sphere) over the past few years, fashion month has become just as much about what people are wearing outside the shows as what’s going on inside the shows.

And it’s a dog eat dog world out there. Here’s how to get your five minutes of fashion fame.

1. Choose last season’s loudest, most recognisable catwalk-hit. If you saw it on the catwalk (and subsequently all over Instagram), chances are someone will want to take your photo.

2. Mix high-fashion with the most normcore of everyday basics. Adidas pool-slides with a Dolce & Gabbana dress? Sure. Your Nan might not get it but the camera will love it.

3. Find a friend and wear matching outfits. Nothing makes a photo quite like a fashion-snap.

4. Fix up, look sharp. Eye-catching doesn’t have to mean shouty – slick, minimalist and goddam powerful get’s you noticed too. Think head-to-toe black, fierce heels and strictly no smiling.

5. If in doubt just go big. Take a leaf out of Anna Dello Russo’s book, where the clothes are usually Couture, the colours always clash, and more is always more.
