Fresh from breaking records at the Grammys - she's the first woman to win album of the year twice for her own albums - and giving ground-breaking speeches, Taylor Swift had a slightly more low-key celebration to attend this weekend, but it was just as important.

She acted as maid of honour for her childhood, non-famous best friend Britany Maack.

Maack may not be part of Swift's infamous 'girl squad' of famous pals, but she has known the singer since they were just 10 days old and they grew up together in Pennsylvania. Maack married Ben LaManna, who Swift has been friend's with since they met at kindergarten.

"I've never been a maid of honour before," Swift told People magazine earlier this year. "This is my first time, and it's really, really important to me because this is my best friend, who I've known since I was born. And she's marrying someone I've known since I was 4."

Both Swift and Maack wore gowns by red carpet designer Reem Acra, a favourite of Swift's.

Last year she arranged for her and Maack to go to the design house's private showroom to pick designs and fabrics for their dresses.

"Reem does the most amazing bridal designs, and Britany and I were looking through Vogue, and she pointed to this one gown, and I was like, ‘I wonder if we could go to the showroom… And sure enough, it was the best day ever. It was so amazing," Swift told People.
