The Women in the World summit is the most influential showcase for women the world over to come together and share stories, give advice and debate social issues.

This year, Women in the World will hold its first ever London summit at Cadogan Hall on 8-9 October.

Founder Tina Brown said: ‘Since we began the Women in the World summit six years ago, we’ve seen a rising tide of women taking charge around the world. London women are at the front line of that global pushback. They are a pretty tolerant bunch, but they won’t put up with intolerance.’

‘They’re been leading the charge against inhumanity and inequality right from the days of the Suffragettes, and what they practice for themselves, they preach for women everywhere in the world.’

She continued: ‘Over the past 18 months, London has been at the centre of a reinvigorated conversation – about how women can accelerate social and political gains. So it’s only natural that we bring the live journalism of Women in the World to vibrant, international London and the insurgent, compassionate women who reinvent it every day.’

Zainab Salbi, the founder of charity Women for Women that supports female survivors of war, will be interviewing Jordan's Queen Rania at the summit.

'I am the biggest fan of Women In The World and a huge admirer of Tina Brown', Zainab told ELLE. 'She has vision and tenacity and is providing women with a new way of discussing and highlighting issues we all need to know about. I am very grateful to be part of Women in the World, both as a contributing writer, a moderator and speaker at the events.'

'I am very excited about interviewing Queen Rania of Jordan this time. We are living in scary, dangerous times for the Middle East and there isn't really a platform for women. In my opinion, hearing her voice is critical, and I think it’s an important responsibility to be interviewing her about this struggle.'

Attendees can expect an incredible lineup of the world’s most inspiring women from over 17 countries, including: actor-activist Meryl Streep, Carey Mulligan, Nicole Kidman and Cara Delevingne; First Minister of Scotland Nicola Sturgeon; Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah of Jordan; Home Secretary Theresa May; Liberian Nobel Peace Laureate Leymah Gbowee; historian Amanda Foreman, and many, many more.

A partnership with Dove will also highlight the new Generation Girl platform that aims to amplify the voices of young women leaders who are role models for girls everywhere.
