Before we drop this bombshell, let's all look at this beautiful moment between mother and child to calm ourselves down.

We can now reveal the frankly terrifying booze news that there could be a global shortage of prosecco.

Better than wine, cheaper than champers, prosecco is the drink of champions. But its future hangs in the balance according to a grim prediction by expert Roberto Cremonese, an export manager for Italian prosecco producer Bisol.

'Last year's harvest was very poor, and down by up to 50 per cent in some parts, so there is a very real possibility of a global shortage,' he told The Drinks Business.

Cremonese added that he was unsure 'how big the problem was' as many French wine merchants were deliberately holding onto their prosecco and using the shortage as 'an opportunity to put prices up, in some cases by 50 per cent.'

TERRIBLE.

Better pop out for some panic buying just in case Cremonese's premonition (cremonition?) comes true. Last one to Aldi's a rotten egg. A very sober one.
