So we got George Northwood (Alexa’s hairdresser) on speed dial to share his styling know-how…
“To get Jessica’s hairstyle you need a long choppy bob, with some shape cut round the face, maybe a grown out fringe. First, apply some Kerastase Oleo Curl Crème, £17.45 through damp hair and diffuse dry (if your hair is poker straight then instead of diffusing, blast with a normal hairdryer). Next take the front sections of the hair and blow dry forward to create a sweeping fringe at the desired parting. Next, taking Daniel Hersheson Waving Tongs, tong random sections ensuring to leave the roots and the ends out. You can usually get away with only doing the top sections which tend to frizz more, especially if you have wavy hair and diffuse dried it. To finish apply some Shu Uemura Hairspray, £16.50.”

He styled Kristen for the MTV Movie Awards, taking her hair from choppy crop to sleek and long. Here’s how…
“I started by applying Fekkai Full Blown Volume Styling Whip, £16, all over her wet hair. Then I dried her hair using my hands to create volume and an uneven texture. To give Kristen’s hair more movement, I curled the top sections of her head with a one-inch curling iron (if your hair is not stick straight you can skip this), loosening them with Fekkai Beach Waves, £19. Next I pulled the hair into a high ponytail, secured it with an elastic band, wrapping around the ponytail a weft of hair extensions, about 16" long and about two feet wide. To secure in place and to hide the join, I took a piece of hair from the underneath wrapping it around the base of the ponytail and secure with hair pins. To ensure your hair holds all night, spritz with hairspray.”

Dree created this look herself, so we called on Neil for some expert know-how…
“First you need to spritz towel-dried hair with BB Tonic Spray, £14, then layer with Thickening Hairspray, £20 and Styling Lotion, £17.50. Dry your hair with a diffuser to get a natural texture; when completely dry, lightly brush the hair through with a flat bristle brush and then take a large curling iron and tong any pieces of hair that look unfinished or a little fuzzy. Do not curl all the hair as you will lose the natural feel to it.
Once curled, take the sides of your hair and loosely twist back into the nape of the neck. Do not pull hair too tight and if any pieces fall away while twisting this is fine. Tie hair into a loose ponytail either using elastic or a hair clip. Finish with a light spritz of hairspray.”

When ELLE spoke to her make-up artist Karin Darnell to ask why she chose to go bold, Karin explained “She has been dying to go red for ages. It’s a fun change for the summer, she’s young so she likes to experiment with new looks”. But it’s Ursula Stephen, Ri-Ri’s hair stylist who explains whether this look will suit you and how to get it…
“Everyone’s face shape and skin is different. What may look good on one person may not look good on another. So I suggest you have a consultation with a colourist to figure out which red works for you. Black women can do this look, however I wouldn’t recommend this hue for a darker skinned woman, I would go for streaks instead.
On Rihanna I used a bright, bold shade that I call Matador Red. To get the true colour I used a double process. I lightened the hair then added a semi-permanent colour. This is a great way to achieve a vibrant colour but I only recommend it if you have healthy hair.
Once your hair is lightened you can use an at-home product to keep the red bright. Just be sure to follow all the instructions, as it’s still a chemical whether it’s from a consumer brand or a professional one”

We spoke to Herman Ho at Headmasters to share his tips on creating this look at home…
“First apply a texture spray to prep the hair, try Pli, £11.60 or Texture Tonic, £11.50 both by L’Oreal Professionel and then blow dry. Rub a very small amount of serum between your fingers before you start to braid, this will help you to separate strands and will stop the hair knotting. Don't worry about being too accurate with your sections - you want to aim for the natural, slightly messy look. Make sure you always have three strands of hair in your hands and try not to look in the mirror as it can be confusing.
When braiding, the outside strands always need to go over the middle strand, not under and every time you move the outside section into the middle sweep in further hair from the outside to create a French plait. If your parting is on the right, you should go around the head and finish behind your right ear, or if you have a left parting, you should finish your braid behind your left ear. Tie the end and roll it into a bun and pin. Finally, massage the braid, or pull out the braid to loosen, this will give you an undone look to your plait."
Headmasters is offering plait master classes at its Hanover Square salon, £45 for 45 minutes. Enq: 020 7408 1000

Now we may never look like a Burberry model or a movie star but we can channel Rosie’s effortless hairstyle and here’s how…
“This style would suit most hair types of shoulder length and below. Simply apply some Kerastase Volumactive mousse, £17.45, through damp hair and rough dry scrunching all the time for texture. Next, if your hair is straight and requires some texture take some Daniel Hersheson waving Tongs, £85 and tong random sections, making sure to leave the roots and the ends out. Next apply some Shu Uemura Silk Oil Serum, £21.50 and run through the hair. Then messily part the hair and backcomb the top section, smooth over the top and then grip in place at the back. Make sure you get the front section tightly back to make it look modern”.
