Hip hop power couple Beyoncé and Jay-Z welcomed their daughter Blue Ivy Carter into the world in 2012. The couple have never released their reasons for choosing the unusual name, but Ivy reportedly references the Roman numeral for four, a significant digit for both: Bey was born 4 September, Jay-Z was born 4 December, the two wed on 4 April, and Beyoncé's latest album is entitled 4.

David Beckham outed his wife as a secret literary connoisseur when he revealed that Harper Seven was named after Harper Lee – the author of Victoria’s favourite book, To Kill a Mocking Bird. Becks was recently asked how he felt about her dating one day and joked: 'Absolutely not. She’s not going out. She’s going to be like Rapunzel — up in the tower.' ELLE cover girl Kate Hudson and her rocker partner Matt Bellamy took to Twitter to explain the name of their son, Bingham Hawn Bellamy. Bellamy wrote: 'For those wondering, Bingham is my mum's maiden name. Bing Russell was also Kurt [Russell's] dad. Family connections all around!' Kate, also has a son Ryder, with her ex-husband, Chris Robinson.
