Eddie Redmayne playing the brilliant physicist Stephen Hawking in upcoming biopic, The Theory of Everything, is the actor's most tasking role to date – but if the just-released trailer is anything to go by, he more than delivers.

The film follows Hawking during his time at the University of Cambridge, in which he is recognised for his genius potential but also devastatingly begins to exhibit the debilitating symptoms of motor neurone disease.

Felicity Jones plays Stephen Hawking’s first wife, Jane Wilde, and the trailer depicts their blossoming romance while at university as well as the harrowing times that come later.

Inspiring, perfectly cast, and sensitively portrayed: if the trailer already has us sniffling, we can't imagine what the film will do…
