The waiting is over: the Bond theme by Adele for upcoming film Skyfall has been unveiled. A quick listen reveals it to be a characteristically Bond, lushly orchestrated ballad, in the mould of Shirley Diamond Are Forever Bassey.
There's no doubt that the pair-up between two great British stars – Adele and James Bond – is a perfect match. Rumours had been circulating for some time that the collaboration was on the cards, and it was confirmed when Adele tweeted a picture of her fantastically manicured hand holding the score for the song. The song was composed with Paul Epworth, who helped Adele produce her hit Rolling In The Deep and means that Adele adds her name to a pantheon of singing greats including Duran Duran, Nancy Sinatra, Carly Simon and Paul McCartney, who have all sung the opening song for Bond films.
The film, starring Daniel Craig as the smouldering spy, will have its world premiere in London on October 23rd, before it is released on October 26th. But since Adele is soon to have her first baby with husband Simon Konecki it remains to be seen if she'll put in an appearance herself.
