Now, this is a celebrity fashion collection that we can get behind. For the last 24 hours, talk has been flying all over fashion land that three-time Elle cover girl and our regular style crush, Alexa Chung, is set to design her own clothing label.
According to the Telegraph, Alexa told Numéro Tokyo that the collection is definitely on the cards. 'Yes, I’m definitely going to do that [design her own collection]. I’m looking into it right now,’ she said. 'I’ve got nothing to lose, it’s a bit of fun. In this current era of celebrity no one believes you actually design the stuff anyway, even though I sketch everything myself. So if it sucks I can say I had nothing to do with it, and if it’s really good I can say “Here are the drawings, it’s all my own work!”’
A representative from her management agency said that she ‘has started to look into the idea of her own clothing line’ and that ‘there are no more details at this stage’.
Of course, this has got us wondering what her collection will look like. We predict a lot of geek-girl charm, Peter Pan collars, lace details and Mary-Jane shoes. In fact, we’re hoping that it looks a lot like her collections for Madewell, which reflect her androgynous sense of style.
Chung has also appeared in campaigns for French label Maje and footwear brand Superga, as well as been the face of DKNY jeans, New Look and Lacoste’s Joy of Pink fragrance – all of which may influence her creative efforts.
Stay tuned for more details and, in the meantime, click through our gallery to have a look back at her campaigns.
