Andre Leon Talley has big plans for a gallery named in his honour at the new Savannah College of Art and Design museum.
For his first exhibition, Talley—a SCAD trustee—has gathered submissions from recipients of the College’s annual ALT Lifetime Achievement Award. He assembled an Oscar de la Renta gown worn by Penelope Cruz, a Diane Von Furstenberg sequinned wrap dress, and a Prada runway design from 2007.
Adding to the multimedia display format is a video of Talley's friend Manolo Blahnik whipping up milkshakes with Martha Stewart, set to background music from 2001: A Space Odyssey.
Plus, this: ‘The only thing I haven’t thrust upon them yet is that I want fragrance wafting through the ventilation system,’ Talley told the New York Times. ‘Either Oscar de la Renta’s Live in Love, or Diane Von Furstenberg’s Diane.’
