Malificent star Angelina Jolie has confirmed that she will be taking on the iconic titular role of Cleopatra in an upcoming biopic.

Most people will remember the inimitable late Elizabeth Taylor as the last Queen of the Nile in 1963, so Angelina certainly has big shoes to fill.

In an interview on BBC Radio 5 Live, the actress revealed, 'The script has been written by Eric Roth, who is a dear friend and a brilliant writer. But she's (Cleopatra's) complicated. It's complicated to get this one right. But I think we're getting there.'

From this exciting news also came shocking hints that Angelina may also be soon giving up her 15-year acting career to concentrate on being a director and UN ambassador.

Commenting on the film, she said, 'It's one of those you feel like maybe that's the one you put everything into, and that's where you end it - that's where you finish.'

We're hoping that this is a just a fleeting idea...
