We’ve seen the backstage pictures of the models being primped and preened before their turn on the catwalk. And finally, we’ve seen the results: acres of plumped, primed, toned and glowing flesh, where the only thing that bounces as they stride down the runway is their hair; the only thing that wobbles is the chins of the grown men sitting in the front row watching them.
Yes, the Victoria’s Secret angels know how to work a bra and thong. But what happens when you pour those coltish limbs into something as socially conforming as a dress? How do they compare when those cheese grater abs are covered up, when those pert derrières are nowhere to be seen? Well, you’ll be unsurprised to hear that the Angels scrub up well, and although some of them have difficulty in disguising their famous curves – opting for maximum impact body-con – on the whole they look just as good in clothes as they do semi-naked.
In the micro-short, eye-wateringly tight and daringly cutaway category we have Adriana Lima, Lily Aldridge , Behati Prinsloo and Doutzen Kroes . Demure is the very last word that springs to mind as we look on these leggy lovelies, but then again they weren’t asking our opinion anyway – they have the best curves in the world and they’re going to flaunt them no matter what we say.
Shaking it up slightly in the style department is Alessandra Ambrosio – who plumped for an alluring midi length dress – and Miranda Kerr , who came over all Marilyn Monroe on us in her flirty, flowy, don’t-step-over-the-air-vent number. Lily Donaldson , meanwhile, was a confection in sugary pink layers, bringing a tiny touch of fashion intrigue to an otherwise red-hot red carpet.
